  • MAF AND NZTA BORDER INSPECTIONS

    Where can I get a MAF Inspection (Biosecurity inspection) and NZTA border inspection completed for a vehicle being exported to New Zealand?

    Inspections are requierd to be completed within bonded facilities, and that are approved by the NZ Government. JEVIC has approved facilities are located in:

    ° Yokohama (Daikoku Futo)
    ° Nagoya (Kinjyo Futo)
    ° Osaka (Sukematsu Futo)

    Should I get the MAF and NZTA border inspection completed prior to expoting the vehicle?

    Yes, this greatly reduces the delays and costs on arrival in New Zealand when the vehicle has already passed its MAF and NZTA border inspections.

    Prior to shipping , how soon do JEVIC need the vehicle  to be able to complete a MAF inspection and NZTA border inspection?

    Vehicles should be booked and delivered to JEVIC facilities 7 to 10 days prior to vessel loading. Please contact JEVIC for further details.

    How do I make a booking for my vehicle to have a MAF inspection and NZTA border inspection?

    There are a number pf ways to book your inspections;

    Can I Organize for JEVIC to do a MAF inspection and NZTA Border inspection out side of a JEVIC facility?

    All MAF nspections and NZTA border inspections must be completed within JEVIC facilities.

    How do I know my vehicle has passed MAF inspection?

    Vehicles that are cleared as meeting MAF inspection standards are issued with a sticker that is affixed to the vehicle ( usually the windscreen wiper). MAF NZ will be notified electronically of those vehicles that are cleared to enter New Zealand.

    Does JEVIC communicate to me after the inspection is completed?

    Once a vehicle enters a JEVIC facility the general communication links are between JEVIC, the shipping agent (exporter / booking agent) and the shipping line.

    Where in Japan can we take a vehicle for RWI prior to export to Kenya or Zambia?

    RWI inspections must be completed at JEVIC approved inspection facilities.

    Is it possible to have a RWI inspection on arrival in Keyna, Uganda or Zambia?

    The JEVIC RWI cannot be completed on arrival in Kenya, Uganda or Zambia. Shipping a vehicle without the JEVIC RWI inspection from Japan, UK, Singapore Dubai(destined for Kenya and Zambia) and South Africa will incur a 15% Cost, Insurance and Freight (CIF) penalty, plus local government inspection costs. It is strongly advised to arrange the inspection prior to export.

    We would like to  book a RWI inspection,however we have not yet received the export certificate as we have just purchased the vehicle. Can we book the RWI inspaction without the Export Certificate?

    The Export Certificate is a vital document for ex. Japan vehicles. The RWI certification process cannot be completed with this document. Please contact the nearest JEVIC office for the various documentation requirements.

    My vehicle will not be registered in Kenya, However the discharge port will be Kenya, will it need to complete a RWI prior to export?

    If a vehicle is not going to be registered in Kenyam it does not need to complete the Kenya RWI.

  • ODOMETER VERIFICATION INSPECTION

    Should vehicles exported to New Zealand have an odometer verification inspection?

    A vehicle with a tampered odometer is prohinited entering New Zealand. New Zealand Customs inspect vehicles for tampered odometers as the vehicle enters New Zealand and seize such vehicles. We strongly recommend having odometer verification completed prior to export.

    Do vehicles exported to Malta require odometer verification prior to export?

    All used vehicles of categories M1 (private) and N1 (commercial g.v.w. ≤3500kg) exported from Japan and Singapore to Malta require JEVIC odometer verification.

    Where can I take my vehicle for odometer verification prior to export to Malta?

    The Odometer Verification inspection can be completed at all JEVIC facilities;

    °Yokohama (Daikoku Futo)
    °Nagoya (Kinjyo Futo)
    °Osaka (Sukematsu Futo)
    °Kobe (Rokko Island)

    The inspection can also be completed outside a JEVIC facility, however additional travel fees will apply.

    Can JEVIC complete odometer verification for vehicles not being exported?

    JEVIC Odometer Verification inspection is not restricted to vehicles being exported. We inspect vehicles for domestic distrbution also.

    Can JEVIC complete a quarantine inspection for vehicles exported to Canada or Australia?

    Canada and Australia governments require quarantine inspections to be completed on arraival. JEVIC can complete decontamination / cleaning of vehicles prior to export which has proven valuable in reducing costs and delays on arrival.
